Description Ek.artifist@gmail.com 2021-12-27 21:08:14 UTC
Krita 5.0.0 on macOS Monterey 12.1 The eyedropper icon doesn't always appear when I press cntl to select a colour. The colour patch beside the arrowhead cursor does appear.

The key for activating the eyedropper is command, not control on macos?

Yes, it's "command." I have noticed that if I touch the tablet with the
colour selector more than once without painting the eyedropper icon
disappears but the square colour swatches are still active. Krita expects
the user to paint immediately after each use of the colour selector.

Kr 4.4.8 has the same behaviour.

Hi Halla. I don't think I understand the conditions which cause the
eyedropper icon to disappear. I just tried to make that happen on 4.4.8 and
I couldn't. But I remember it disappeared yesterday when I was working.
I'll download the current nightly of Kr 5 and try to test 4 and 5 more
thoroughly.

Hello again! I've just tested 28156f5.dmg.

1. If I have selected a painting brush and painted and the press command
the eyedropper is displayed.

2. If I then select a non painting brush like an eraser and press command
the icon does not display.

3. If I then select a painting brush and press command the icon does not
display.

4. If I then paint and press command the icon returns.

This leads to a point where I must paint with a colour I don't necessarily
want (3) before I can see the icon again. I hope this helps you.

Yes, there's something fishy here that makes the eyedropper cursor sometimes only appear after clicking, instead of pressing command. Ivan, have you any idea what's up here?
Comment 7 vanyossi 2022-04-06 15:08:23 UTC
One idea at least, since we had something like this a while ago and it was related to a lost event. I'll have to look into it more deeply since im unable to reproduce locally.

Hi, I've noticed the eyedropper needs the stylus to touch the tablet before
it can be displayed again. It's not about which tool is selected, it's
about contact with the tablet.
