Description postix 2021-12-20 17:45:39 UTC
SUMMARY

It happened to me unfortunately several times that my laptop powered off suddenly due to an empty battery.
After powering on again and logging in, I found that the plasma apps I had placed into the panel were all gone, as well as the hotkeys I have defined ( e.g. to switch virtual desktops ).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set custom hotkeys, add applets to the plasma panel
2. Pull out the battery (or reset by pressing on the power button for 5 sec -- though haven't tested it)
3. Power on again and login

OBSERVED RESULT
Applets and hotkeys are gone respectively the default again.

EXPECTED RESULT
Everything stays as it was before.

These will be separate bugs, so let's use this one for panel applets, and use a different one for changing hotkeys.

I cannot reproduce the issue by adding a Digital Clock applet to a Plasma Panel and then *immediately* killing plasmashell with `killall -9 plasmashell` in a terminal window. That's pretty much what an unexpected shutdown will do. Can you reproduce the issue in this way?
