SUMMARY Kwin on Wayland will not remember details of a multi-monitor setup across restarts. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Connect three monitors to the computer. (I don't know if it also happens with two.) 2. Configure Plasma to make treat these monitors as standing in a line next to each other. (So you have a desktop with three different screens, instead of three screens all showing the same content.) 3. Click on Accept, close the settings window. Click Accept again if prompted. 4. Log out 5. Log in again OBSERVED RESULT After logging in again, all three monitors will show the same thing again. The effectively usable desktop is just one screen wide. EXPECTED RESULT Kwin should reproduce the monitor settings that have been configured in the last session. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: n/a macOS: n/a Linux/KDE Plasma: Linux: 5.15.7 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.23.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.88.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This bug is not present when running Plasma on X11.
You're not switching between Wayland and X11, are you? The arrangement gets lost when rebooting on Wayland and booting back into another Wayland session?
(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #1) > You're not switching between Wayland and X11, are you? The arrangement gets > lost when rebooting on Wayland and booting back into another Wayland session? I did switch from X11 to Wayland just a few days ago, and it's possible, that I've been switching back and forth a few times on that day to compare things. However, I haven't started Plasma on X11 in at least two days on this machine, yet the problem still persists. Yes, the arrangement gets lost when rebooting (or just relogging) from one Wayland session directly to another.
OK, thanks.
