STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Install Nvidia proprietary driver 2. Enable the effect 3. Log in/out OBSERVED RESULT The screen just rapidly changes to the tty(?) when logging out. EXPECTED RESULT The screen should fade to the black color and after that change to this console output idk. I don't know how to describe this more accurately. It just looks wrong, for a few seconds I just stare at an empty desktop and then it just falls into that console with logs of system's startup or something. The same story for logging in: it does not fade from black. It just shows me the desktop while loading programs (like, even latte is still launching but I already have to stare at the once again empty desktop). Anyway, I appreciate your work. It's really cool and now I can't even imagine using Windows. I am impressed even more realising it's done by volunteers.
This was just fixed for Plasma 5.23.5, thankfully. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 444898 ***
(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #2) > This was just fixed for Plasma 5.23.5, thankfully. > > *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 444898 *** Just updated to this version of plasma. Still does not work for me.
Hmm, darn. Let's re-open that one, not this one. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 444898 ***
Looks like I was wrong and this is something else. What effect did you enable in step 2?
This bug is saying after the logout greeter when doing the actual shutdown we should do something more smooth. There is no current code that tries to do something like that.
OK.
