STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Mount a network drive (SFTP would do)
2. Click on a media file on the network drive in Dolphin
3. VLC opens up an sftp dialog

OBSERVED RESULT
VLC opens a sftp dialog

EXPECTED RESULT
VLC accesses the file directly through the kio-fuse path

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma: Arch Linux
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.23.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.88.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Comment 1 pygezaqy 2021-12-15 13:10:51 UTC
I have noticed that this happens only sometimes, e.g. mounting my Macbook works as expected, but not using Openssh on Termux.
Comment 2 pygezaqy 2021-12-15 13:15:07 UTC
This may be because trying to access the folder `sftp/android.ssh:8022` fails.

Can you clarify *exactly* what you're doing when you say that you "Mount a network drive"?

Also can you attach a screenshot of VLC's "sftp dialog"?

I'm entering `sftp://****/path/to/directory` and the screenshot is attached.

I just gave up and went with sshfs. Closing.
Comment 7 Nate Graham 2021-12-16 01:47:36 UTC
well, that's not really how this works. A bug is a bug, whether or not you're experiencing it.

Is the SFTP share password-protected, or passwordless? If it's passwordless, then this is a known issue.

So you access the share from its URL in Dolphin, and then click on the file in Dolphin, and then VLC shows that dialog?
