SUMMARY After upgrading to Kubuntu 21.10 from Kubuntu 21.04, Gwenview doesn't save JPEG files after they are edited, converted or renamed. It saves other formats (i.e. PNG), but not JPEGs. All libraries are installed. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. open a file test.png in Gwenview 2. click File -> Save As... and input name test.jpeg 3. An error dialog appears: "Unsupported image format" and then another dialog, which says "Saving test.jpeg.jpe unsuccessful: Unsupported image format." (I am using Polish locale, where the dialog says: "Zapisywanie ‘test.jpeg.jpe’ nie powiodło się: Nieobsługiwany format obrazu") The same thing happens when I try to save an existing JPEG file under a different name or when I want to save a JPEG file after cropping. After cropping an JPEG image in Gwenview and trying to save it, I get a dialog: "Gwenview nie może zapisywać obrazów w formacie 'jpe'" = Gwenview cannot save images in 'jpe' format. It seems like a typo somewhere, that makes Gwenview mistake jpegs for jpe format. The same error occurs with files with .jpeg extension and .jpg extension. OBSERVED RESULT Gwenview refuses to save a jpeg, displays dialogs about "jpe" format. EXPECTED RESULT JPEG gets saved. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Kubuntu 20.10, currently latest version ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I am using Polish locale.
I've upgraded to Gwenview 21.08.3, problem persists.
