Description Nate Graham 2021-12-11 16:26:26 UTC
We mention Star Labs, a vendor of Linux hardware that offers Plasma as an option. https://www.manjarocomputer.eu is the same, so we should add them too.

As far as U understand (please correct me if i'm wrong) that the list of companies in that page is companies KDE has a direct relationship with so there is some level of confidence that if bugs are found in software/hardware they can be communicated and not a comprehensive list of all the hardware vendors in the world that offer Plasma as an option.

So unless we have that relationship with manjarocomputer.eu we should not list them.

Oops, sorry I missed your comment. My understanding is that we:

1. List hardware with Plasma by default on top, irrespective of if KDE has a relationship with the vendor
2. List hardware with Plasma as an option below that, irrespective of if KDE has a relationship with the vendor

This is based on the fact that, as far as I know, KDE has no relationship with Valve or KFocus, yet they're listed prominently.

The https://www.manjarocomputer.eu stuff could probably be in the bottom section, given how Plasma isn't the default choice for the hardware listed there--just one option of several.

I'm relatively sure i raised the same concern when the SteamDeck was added :) (or maybe not seeing how this one was being ignored)
Comment 4 Nate Graham 2022-09-27 13:52:15 UTC
The thing is, the Steam Deck is such a huge thing for us, that any policy which would cause it to be excluded would be a nonsensical one. So clearly we either don't have that policy, or else it's selectively ignored because it leads to nonsensical results--which effectively means we don't have that policy.

Do we still want to do this?
Comment 6 Nate Graham 2026-02-11 15:20:13 UTC
The URL is now https://www.ubuntushop.biz/ which honestly has a fairly amateurish look and feel to it.

They also say "Due to the uncertain situation regarding customs and tariffs, we no longer ship to the USA." literally right over an image that says "Worldwide shipping", which does not inspire a great deal of confidence IMO. So maybe not.
