Created attachment 144417 [details] journalctl log of the crash SUMMARY This bug happens with the Pager widget on Wayland. Not sure where it belongs exactly. Kwin crashes when I am sharing screen on Chromium (XWayland) and switching virtual desktops using pager widget. The crash happens randomly, sometimes after switching 2 3 times, sometimes it may takes more tries but it always happens. I have attached journalctl log in text file attached. Since I am running Arch, quality crash report is a pain to obtain. I was not able to reproduce if I scroll on Pager widget or if I use shortcuts to switch VDs. It happens only when I click on the VD in the Pager widget to switch. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Share whole screen on Chromium (XWayland) 2. Switch VDs using pager widget by clicking on the virtual desktops. 3. Repeat step 2 until Kwin crashes. The crash always happens but you may need to switch VDs a number of times. Sometimes it happens in 2-3 times sometimes 30-40 times. OBSERVED RESULT Kwin crashes after a variable number of virtual desktop switching. EXPECTED RESULT Kwin shouldn't crash. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.23.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.88.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 Graphics Platform: Wayland ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 1. The pager widget is on the panel. 2. Screen sharing is done using webrtc-pipewire flag in Chromium.
If the bug wasn't already very specific, it just got more specific. It only happens when "Show on-screen display when switching". I disabled that setting and the crash is gone.
Can you get a backtrace of the crash? See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports
