(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***) Package: kmail Version: 1.4 (using KDE 3.0.0 ) Severity: wishlist Installed from: compiled sources Compiler: gcc version 2.96 20000731 (Red Hat Linux 7.1 2.96-98) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.9-13smp OS/Compiler notes: Hello as a simple extension to be able to use spam filtres I would suggest having a matching filter that is just a reference to an external program (similar to the action that obtains the message for input) The filter would apply if the program returns true. With this extension spam checkers like razor-check can be easily used and all found spam messages could be moved to a separate folder for later treatment. The current method of applying a spam check program as an action to the message which would be replaced in case of spam is not working well on imap servers and does not allow to manually check the results. kind regards and many thanks for kmail Axel. Current workaround: Make the external program a filter action then make it add an "x-myproggy-matched: yes/no" header to each mail then filter on that header instead. I'm adding some votes to this because this is one of two enchancements I'd like to see [they are very closely related, but not quite an exact dup] Another way of looking at this would be to consider a "pre-filter action"
Hello, I suggest you a look at http://kmail.kde.org > tools > anti-spam > SpamOracle. It has a link to a mini how-to about configuring an external filter program for piping through messages, even on imap servers. It could be similar to your needs and with some modification you could accomplish them. Regards Andre Felipe
In KMail 1.7 there will be support for anti-spam and anti-virus programs. They can filter messages to seperate folders and basicly exactly what you wish for, except for the fact that running a program as a filter criteria is not possible in KMail 1.7 / KDE 3.3. If all voters have voted for this wish because of the ability to use a spam program, then this wish can be closed now.
I think it will be a good idea to leave this option open. It will be useful to have a filter that pipes the message to an external program and receives return value or error code from it. It will have uses more than just spam-filters e.g. sorting complex survey forms.
Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented. Thank you for your understanding.
Instead of creating a new feature request, please confirm here if the wishlist is still valid for kmail2.
