SUMMARY *** At this time Audacious made the transition from gtk to qt and it is rock-solid. As far as I am concerned this is the ultimate quality software. The version of the audio player Audacious that comes with the LTS of ubuntu is very old it still uses gtk by default. Wouldn't it be appropriate when Neon took a newer version of this great piece of software so that we didn't have to use the ppa but simply got this new version by default? ***
Yep, that's how Neon works: you get an old Ubuntu LTS base, along with its old apps (other than KDE software). If you want newer apps, you'll need to get them from Snap or Flatpak. If you want newer apps to be packaged by the distro itself, Neon may not be the right OS for you.
