Description Andre Dierker 2021-11-19 08:12:48 UTC
SUMMARY
***
I have three computers, all the same OS and Plasma version but the Problem exist since like two Fedora versions too.
After every reboot or wake from sleep the resolution reverts back to 640x40 and I have to set the resolution back.

- Monitor Samsung: 5120x1440
- 1 desktop, AMD graphic, attached to this via HDMI (never seen another display)
- 1 Lenovo, Intel graphic, laptops origin res. 1920x1080 (seen various (multi)-display setups)
- 1 Lenovo, AMD graphic, laptops origin res. 1920x1080 (seen various (multi)-display setups)
- All attached via HDMI or Lenovo Dock via HDMI
- Sadly Display port isn't working on any of them and i don't know why and I gave up trying
- "Save displays' properties:" doesn't change anything

Thank you for the bug report. Unfortunately we were not able to get to it yet. Can we ask you to please check if this is still an issue with Plasma 5.25 or 5.26?

If it is, please add a comment with the output of `kscreen-doctor -o` and change the status to CONFIRMED. If not, or if you can't because you no longer use this setup, you can change the status to RESOLVED WORKSFORME. Thanks a lot!

Hey,

I'm on Fedora 36 and Plasma 5.25.5 now.
Maybe I can give more information on this.
I found out that it's not a reboot or wake up from sleep. The resolution reverts back to 640x480 if I wake up any computer with the monitor off or in powersafe mode. Then the resolution is at 640... all windows sizes and positions are a mess bc of the resolution change.
If I switch the monitor manually on (it's independent which input is enabled) before I wake up the computer, Plasma starts in the right resolution (5120x1440).

I use X because wayland does not work

Beside that there is a strange behavior when enabling/disabling the laptop screen while the external monitor is attached with the window sizes :)

Thanks. Would you mind attaching the output of `kscreen-doctor-o` both before and after restarting or waking from sleep? Basically I want to see how the output changes after the bug happens.
