Created attachment 143615 [details] okular memory consumption SUMMARY *** Okular consumes an enormous amount of Memory (it reached over 1Gb today). I got the same tab list opened (and loaded) over the weeks (even months): it consists of 7 or 8 tabs the size of each is in range 4 to 17 Mb (there’s no large files). *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open up to 10 files with average size of 10Mb each. 2. Suspend session. Resume. (few cycles during a day or couple of days) 3. Observe how Okular consumes Memory in System monitor. OBSERVED RESULT an enormous amount of Memory EXPECTED RESULT adequate amount of Memory SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS KDE Plasma Version: 5.22.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.87.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 Kernel Version: 5.14.10-1-MANJARO (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Okular Version 21.08.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Why is 1Gb not an appropiate amount of memory?
(In reply to Albert Astals Cid from comment #1) > Why is 1Gb not an appropiate amount of memory? Because earlier it does NOT show such a greediness with same workload. Besides, the alternate qpdfview viewer with same tab list loaded does not demonstrate such a high consumption.
Okular 24.08.3 consumes ton of memory when system is suspended multiple times. My system has 64GB and Okular consumes 22.6GB with a single pdf document open. The system was suspended (put to sleep) at least 8 times in the course of 2 days. Okular 24.08.3 is installed as a flatpak on PopOs 22.04. The same issue with high memory consumption was with the older Okular version 21, installed from a package manager.
