Created attachment 143587 [details] Searching for 'GNOME' in the Discover search SUMMARY Currently, Discover's search is not very good. I find that searching for a generic thing brings up random packages that I've never heard of with zero ratings to the top, while stuff with ~300 ratings are quite a lot of scrolls down. Sometimes, searching for the (almost) exact app name also gives up random apps, while the app that was being searched for is somewhere down because the name had hyphens instead of spaces. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open Discover, search for GNOME OBSERVED RESULT Bunch of random stuff in the beginning, with zero ratings each. The relevant apps (with GNOME in the name!) are a couple pages down. And all of them have more than 100 ratings (whether good or bad). EXPECTED RESULT The apps with more number of ratings/better ratings should figure higher in the list. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: KDE neon 5.23 KDE Plasma Version: 5.23.3 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.87.0 Qt Version: 5.15.3 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION none
Discover's search is powered by the AppStream library. Unfortunately KDE Neon typically ships an old version of the library, which is why your search results are bad. The results for "GNOME" are about what I would expect on Fedora 34 with version 0.14.5 of the library.
Thank you for your bug report! However this bug report was created/provided previous to 01/01/2023 and also has not received any updates since before 01/01/2025. Unfortunately KDE neon no longer provides updates for anything older than noble 24.04 based edition's. Please upgrade to KDE neon noble and if you can reproduce the issue after upgrading to an active version, feel free to re-open this bug report. Thanks for understanding!
