Hello, i would like to propose a feature request: Make spectactle automatically scan for QR-Codes in a captured image. This would be helpful for qrcodes displayed on screen. There are already other tools doing this [1],[2] but it would be nice to have it integrated in a screenshot tool. For decoding there are already external libraries available [3], so the feature could be made optional, depending on the external library being available. [1] https://qrab.sourceforge.io/ [2] https://launchpad.net/qr-tools [3] http://zbar.sourceforge.net
What's the use case? Why would someone want to do this?
(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #1) > What's the use case? Why would someone want to do this? My use case was an assembly manuel containing lots of qrcodes, telling me to scan them and watch the assembly video (there were no hyperlinks as text of course). So i fired up spectactle to see if it would recognize the qrcodes, it did not. Thought it might be a useful addition so i suggested it.
Thanks for the info.

Could this project be used (as a library or standalone) for the qrcode scanning? https://apps.kde.org/ka/kodaskanna/
Just bumping the ticket as I would like to see this implemented.
Another bump

It seems this is dead? It would be a very nice addition.

Thank you so much for implementing this! 🥳
Indeed, thanks a lot!
