SUMMARY *** Usually I am using GeoSetter to set all GeoTags for my photos. For searching the location where the photo was taken, I perform a reverse geocoding also with GeoSetter (using Geonames). Sometimes I have to specify some locations by hand. The respective tags, like Country-Primary Location Name, Province-State, Sub-location and City are stored in IPTC and XMP format. How can I set those elements as tags in DigiKam? If I perform a Reverse Geocoding, I can use the adress elements of Open Street Map or Geonames.org, but they do not match with the tags already stored in my photos. Ok, one way might be, to set all those tags by hand, but this would be a rather crude task and I have to do the things twice. Thanks for your help in advance. Stephan *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. 2. 3. I hope I understand your problem correctly. You have to add the red virtual address tags to the places in your tag tree where you want the results of the reverse geolocation. Maik

More or less, yes. For example: I have a phot, which was taken at: 49,41962673 / 8,70417465 The location I got from GeoSetter (Geonames) are: Primary Location Name: Deutschland Province-State: Baden-Württemberg City: Heidelberg Sub-location: Neuenheim If I use the Reverse Geoding of DigiKam the results are described in the screenshots attached: 1: OpenStreet Maps with all elements (pic 1) 2: Geonemas.org with manual added elements (pic 2) But the tags I want to have for my photos is like the third attachment (pic 3), which I realised manually. Stephan
You don't have to add all of the address elements. You can add individual address elements that you need, also at the point in the tag tree where they are in the right place. Maik

With GeoSetter, I have already four address elements for the respective location, which are stored in my photo. What I like to do is, to use these elements as tags for searching of locations. But I would circumvent to do that job manually. Like shown in the attachments, with the options of digikam, I would not get all those elements as tags. Or should I perform the Reverse Geocoding multiple times with different search options? Stephan
I don't understand your problem and what exactly you want. I see in picture 1 that digiKam found even more than 4 address elements. At the moment, you can only add geolocation information as tags and search for it. We have already wishes for a location sidebar. Otherwise you can explain your problem to me in German on my private mail. Maik
Hi Maik, thank you for your explanation. Now I know, that the location properties are stored in the "ImageProperties"-table, but so far there is no option to use them in DigiKam. But it would be a worthful feature to use them in future. I understand now, why Gilles marked the "Bug" for the wishlist. Again, thanks a lot. Stephan
