Description Alinajafian81 2021-11-11 12:50:19 UTC
SUMMARY
plasma shell is terrebly slow when i use wayland. buttons, taskbar, kickoff menu, notifications, and context menu in the desktop are freezed and doesn't work until i move the cursor.
Qt and gtk apps like vlc, Dolphin, libreoffice are good and responsive. keyboard shortcuts like `ctrl+alt+t` are ok and responsive as well. scrolling in browser is smooth. I don't have any problem with switching between apps. But all Kirigami apps (i think) specially settings (takes two minutes to show up) are so slow.
overview (top-left hot corner) is ok.
there is no problem in X11.

I put some videos for you:
https://mega.nz/folder/pclXGKaJ#2S3F4Wt87_B58czktDqW5w

as you see the shell is not responsive and when i move my cursor it in the task bar it wakes up... (with choppy animation)
The second video show the same behavior but in Settings app.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. switch to wayland with 495 drivers.
2. see issue

OBSERVED RESULT
plasma shell is terrebly slow.

EXPECTED RESULT
an ok plasma shell

Sounds like a graphics issue, as the issue only seems to happen with GPU-bound software. I wonder if the NVIDIA EGL support will fix this.

Ok the bug has been fixed now. thank you. Still the panel is so unstable and glitchy i assume it is not related to this bug...
