Created attachment 143371 [details] journalctl -p 5 SUMMARY Without any warning, the keyboard stops responding and only the mouse reacts to user interaction. A "beep" sounds (even over headphones) every minute or so, and Plasma does not even react to <Ctrl><Alt> + 2x <Backspace>. The only way to reboot, is via REISUB STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Log in to Plasma 2. Begin to work on any application OBSERVED RESULT - Keyboard doesn't respond (nor to <Ctrl><Alt> + 2x <Backspace>) - Mouse most of times moves (but curiosly, doesn't reach yet my second monitor, only the first one) but doesn't respond to buttons - Some "beep" sounds approximately about each 51 seconds, and then no noise at all - It don't let my switch to any console (<Ctrl><Alt><F1>). - It only reacts to <Ctrl><Alt><Int><B> (rebooting) EXPECTED RESULT To works without system hang SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20211102 KDE Plasma Version: 5.23.2 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.87.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 Kernel Version: 5.14.14-1-default (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 8 × Intel® Core™ i7-9700K CPU @ 3.60GHz Memory: 15.4 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060/PCIe/SSE2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Two monitors, SSD main hard disk, HP Z1 PC
I very much doubt this could be caused by any KDE code, especially on X11 where input handling is done by the X server rather than anything under KDE's control. XKB, maybe? Andrey, any ideas? Maybe this is related to the recent X11 release which caused various regressions. Did you happen up receive and apply an X11 update in tumbleweed recently?
<Ctrl><Alt> + <Backspace> is handled by X11 and not Plasma, so it seems like lower-level problem indeed. That beeps might be symptom of some buffer overflow, e.g with keyboard events. XKB doesn't handle physical devices so should be indifferent. I might also be useful to look into X11 logs, I'm not sure journalctl grabs ones.. I see crashes in your log, can you also try the session with new user? What's on Wayland? Does the problem arose after some upgrade, meaning it's a regression?

I had always thought that the "skdjf" key combination was unique to Plasma (it's what I've been using since I started Linux years ago). I forgot to add that, curiously, it seems that if I DON'T use the computer, it doesn't crash. It's as if it only crashes when I'm using it (nothing that stresses the computer, it's more programming, with hardly any access to the hard disk). Regarding updates, I can't establish a relationship between an update and the onset of the problem, except for the NVidia drivers, which I couldn't install and finally managed to do so. Should I ask in an X11 forum or would it be more correct in an openSUSE forum? is a great clue to the problem. (In reply to Rafael Linux User from comment #3) > Should I ask in an X11 forum or would it be more correct in an openSUSE > forum? Seems reasonable, please add the links here too if you do. Also you could try to reproduce in other Desktop Environment first. And try it on Plasma Wayland, too.
I will do it at the next hang and reboot. At the moment, I've been running for more than two hours without problems .... "knock on wood". I will keep you informed of any news about it.

It seems latest updates (I don't know if of Plasma or NVidia driver) fixed issue.
Still bug remains. I can't add that even if playing music, it continues playing, but no way to interact with desktop.
