SUMMARY At seemingly random times, plasmashell CPU usage goes up to 100% and this persists until Haruna is closed. STEPS TO REPRODUCE Unsure. OBSERVED RESULT Plasma UI nearly frozen, Haruna functions normally. EXPECTED RESULT The system still working as usual. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: openSUSE Leap 15.3 KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.6 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.76.0 Qt Version: 5.12.7 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION If nobody else can reproduce this, could someone tell me what to copy/save/examine whenever this problem occurs?
Post your Haruna config, but check that there's no data you don't want to share like last played file.

@george fb I think it's also germane to say that the problem can occur only once a week or so.
Ok, it happened again. From what I could tell, the plasmashell problem occurs only when a file is playing. That is, if it reaches the end or even if it's paused, the situation goes back to normal. It resumes when the play restarts either anew or unpause. In these moments, the only way is to close the app and relaunch it. Is there anything else I could check whenever this happens?
It could also be a bug in Plasma or in one of Haruna's dependencies. It's really hard to say when it can't be reproduced. You could try to look at the system log, maybe there are some clues. Try the flatpak version, see if it still happens. Or if you can compile it with up to date dependencies, maybe with https://invent.kde.org/sdk/kdesrc-build.

Will try either or both as next step.
Is this still happening?
Tomorrow the new openSUSE Leap 15.4 with Qt 5.15.2 should be released. I will try to upgrade and let you know within the week.
I couldn't reproduce it with 0.8.0 built against Qt 5.15.2.
