Description Stuart Morgan 2021-11-01 15:26:48 UTC
SUMMARY
When playing back tracks in Elisa periodically Elisa will output no sound at all. It most often happens from the start of the track and skipping backwards will often fix the issue, although it can take a few tries. Usually when it finishes playing the track and moves to the next track in the playlist the sound resumes.

Pavucontrol GUI shows no audio activity from Elisa when this happens but sound from other applications works fine.

I've been seeing this issue for a while but with less frequency so it's difficult to know exactly which version it start with.

This is in Fedora 34 using pipewire.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Play a playlist
2. At some random point, when it moves to the next track no audio can be heard.
3. Clicking back on the progress bar will sometime 'fix' the issue, until it happens the next time.

OBSERVED RESULT

No sound from application.

EXPECTED RESULT

Sound from Application.

Can confirm the issue when Elisa first starts up. A workaround is to pause and play again.

I am also Fedora 34 using Pipewire-pulse, rather than pure PulseAudio. It may be related to that.

I'm on Neon with pure Pulse, it's not reproducible here.
Comment 3 Nate Graham 2021-11-08 17:57:53 UTC
Yeah, I suspect it's a PipeWire issue.
Comment 4 fw.smit01 2023-01-06 11:15:36 UTC
I never had this issue on Fedora 37. I think this issue could be closed, since it's probably a pipewire issue and probably solved as well
Comment 5 Nate Graham 2023-01-09 16:47:30 UTC
Neon uses Pipewire too now FWIW.
