Created attachment 142550 [details] The effects of right clicking on the qbittorrent icon SUMMARY As shown on the screenshot, two right-click menus get shown at once. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Get at least 2 apps with legacy tray icons. In this case I used qbittorrent and gxneur (gtk). 2. Right click on one of the icons OBSERVED RESULT Two context menus shown. EXPECTED RESULT Only one context menu shown. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Gentoo linux (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.23 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.87 Qt Version: 5.15 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Additionally when that happens, keyboard input gets disabled, I had to ssh into that PC to capture a screenshot. And sometimes keyboard input just goes completely haywire, like someone is jumping on the keyboard pressing all the keys. I know it sounds a bit nutty, but believe me, it looks even crazier.
In addition, there's been something going on here: https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-workspace/-/commit/448955e031e8ce86ab16f84899f91f0083cc7fa7
In Bug 443149, I encountered an issue I think is the same as this bug: ...a flickering black square to appear above the menu (the icon's right-click menu appearing and disappearing rapidly), and/or causes the entire desktop to act as if the mouse was constantly spamming right-click inputs to the app under the cursor (menus appearing and disappearing, hundreds of Konsole "configure shortcut" dialogs opening). At this point, Xorg is burning 1 core of CPU, plasmashell is burning between 1 and 2 cores of CPU, and the apps you hovered might burn CPU as well. Killing the app whose icon you right-clicked fixes the infinite right-clicks, but plasmashell keeps burning 2 CPU cores (though Xorg no longer burns CPU). Killing plasmashell fixes the CPU burning (but may not stop the app whose icon you right-clicked from burning CPU).
Michael, do you still have this issue? Bug 444385 looks similar and it was fixed in 5.23.3.
Seems like it's fixed for me.
