SUMMARY We've deselected the screen locker (always do as part of an installation/setup) but after some period of time, KDE logs out my user (we don't want this to happen) and locks the PC including consoles. Because of that we have to reboot frequently. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Deselect screen locker. 2. Leave PC unattended for a while. 3. PC logs out, locks including consoles. OBSERVED RESULT KDE logs out user and locks PC including consoles, meaning you can't even <CTRL><ALT>Fn to them anymore. EXPECTED RESULT DON'T log out the user if they deselected locker! SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: 5.11.0-37-lowlatency / 5.23 KDE Plasma Version: 5.23.0 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.87.0 Qt Version: 5.15.3
What exactly do you mean by "Deselect screen locker"? You mean you don't install KScreenLocker during distro installation? Also when you say "PC logs out", does that mean you see the login screen such that you can log back in? Or does something else happen?
KDE Neon doesn't give that option. Settings->Workspace Behaviour->Screen Locking. It shows a login screen (which should never have exited to) but it's not possible to login. Actually I think I know what might've been causing it. We were running an ethereum miner on the graphics card's GPUs and that may have taken too much GPU resources and caused the display to not work as well... but I don't know why that would logout the user. This wasn't happening since we shut off that miner.
