Description MarcP 2021-10-16 11:15:41 UTC
SUMMARY
When identifying people from faces, if you go to People panel, and click on a person that has some suggestions, sometimes instead of going to the top of the list and showing the suggestions, it focuses on some other picture. Maybe it's a picture that was selected previously, I'm not sure.

I's a very minor issue, but it can be annoying.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Scan some faces. Wait until suggestions appear.
2. On the People panel, click on a person that has suggestions.

OBSERVED RESULT
Sometimes it will take you to some random picture that is selected instead of the suggestions, so you have to scroll to the top to see them.

EXPECTED RESULT
It should take you to the top of the list, where the suggestions are.

The face recognition process is still running if the focus problem occurs in the view?

Good question, let me check.
Comment 3 MarcP 2021-10-17 18:01:36 UTC
Ok, I checked.

Basically it takes you to the last selected picture from that person.

For instance, if you select a picture in the Tags panel, and a specific person is in it, when you then go to People panel and select that person, it will take you directly to the face in that picture. Which in other cases is fine, but for face recognition it would be better show the suggestions first (if there are).

Sorry, I forgot to answer, that is regardless whether the face recognition is running or has already finished.

@MarcP

digiKam 8.0.0 is out. This entry still valid with this release ?

Best regards

Yes, the behavior is still the same. If previously a picture from that person had been selected, when clicking on the person on the People panel, the focus will go to that selected picture instead of going to the top if there are new suggestions.

digiKam 8.5.0 is out with many improvements in face detection and recognition. Please update these entry accordingly with this version. Thanks in advance...

Hi, today I've been tagging a large number of faces and I can confirm that this is a reoccurring issue. After confirming a face, the focus seems to go to a previously selected item, and you need to manually scroll up to the top every time.

Hi Marc,
We've made some changes to how UI adjusts focus after confirming a face. Would you be willing to download the daily build of 8.6.0 from https://files.kde.org/digikam and see if the issue is fixed for you?

Cheers,
Mike
