Dolphin's panes showing two different representations of the same AppImage binaires in different contexts

Sorry if the title is cryptic, but I don't know what's the proper way to call this feature...

Dolphin can make a little preview on top of the folder icon of what its contents are. In the image attached, I have an "Application" folder with two AppImage binaries inside (left pane). In the "preview folder", both AppImages are represented with their own icons. If you actually go inside the folder though (right pane), you can see that they have this generic icon instead.

If dolphin can extract the icons in someway, shouldn't it be able to do it always? Am I missing a plugin?
