SUMMARY
It can happen that the "Add widgets" and "Show alternatives" buttons just stop working at all. Nothing seems to be happening and as far as i can tell it's random. 

plasmashell --replace does not help unfortunately

Attached are a simple video and output of 

"plasmashell --replace" while clicking the buttons.

Only a logout and login fixed it. 

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Enter Edit mode
2. Click Add Widgets
3. Click Show alternatives

OBSERVED RESULT
Buttons don't do anything

EXPECTED RESULT
They perform their respective functions

Yeah the --replace flag is broken with this. Kill plasmashell and start it manually and then it'll work.
