Description pot70 2021-10-12 06:19:58 UTC
as i use things like the panel itself or any kind of widgets like clock, plasmashell uses a bit of ram, but doesn't clear it afterwards

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Setup a desktop with kde plasma
2. Check the memory usage of plasmashell. Use stuff like the applications menu for a while
3. Check the memory usage again

OBSERVED RESULT
Plasmashell's memory usage has gone high depending on what widgets you used (the app dashboard uses more than the launcher)

EXPECTED RESULT
The ram usage should stay normal and clear unused parts

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma: Kubuntu 20.04 LTS
(available in About System)

This has been largely fixed in later versions of Plasma. We're on 5.23 now and you're still on 5.18.

I tried running the latest KDE Neon- issue's still there.
