SUMMARY I believe the title sums everything up, but to recap. Dolphin has the abilities to save directories as a bookmark. This makes it super easy to get to long directories that you use a lot. With the introduction of KCommandbar, you can now search menu entries from withing dolphin using the default shortcut Control+Alt+I. The problem is that I can't search for bookmarks unless I interact with the "Bookmarks" submenu underneath the "Go" tab inside of the global menu. I don't know if it happens without the global menu. I tried removing the global menu and then opening dolphin, but it uses the hamburger menu thing. Honestly, I've forgotten if that is the default or if It has a traditional menu bar as well. I'll test with kde neon unstable in a virtual machine later. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Create a bookmark in dolphin. It's usually something like "Go" menu item -> "Bookmarks" -> "Add Bookmark". 2. Close dolphin 3. Re-Open dolphin 4. Open KCommandbar "Control + Alt + I" 5. Search for the name of the bookmark you just added. 6. Go Down to the "OBSERVED_RESULT" section before reading step 7. 7. Go back to the "Go" menu item -> "Bookmarks" 8. Hover for a second or two on your bookmarks (I'm not sure this part is fully necessary I just know you need to interact with the Go tab or the bookmarks section under the Go tab). 9. Open KCommandbar again 10. Search for the name of the bookmark you added earlier. OBSERVED RESULT Nothing happens after step 5 until you do step 8. EXPECTED RESULT It should search whatever bookmarks you have like it does after you have interacted with the "Bookmarks" section underneath the "Go" tab in the menu/global menu. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: EndeavourOS KDE Plasma Version: 5.22.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.87.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 Kernel Version: 5.14.11-zen1-1-zen (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 4 × Intel® Core™ i7-7500U CPU @ 2.70GHz Memory: 15.4 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® HD Graphics 620 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I wasn't sure if this went under dolphin, global menu, or kde-frameworks because I don't know in which section the problem lies. I decided to file it under dolphin because Konsole which also has a bookmarks feature does not suffer from the same problem. One thing that I noticed with konsole though is that the Bookmarks section is not in a submenu of another menu item though.
I made a video of the problem if you need it.
