SUMMARY There are a number of ways to create a desktop quick launcher including automatically when installing a program. Basically a double click on the icon will launch the program or script it refers to. For the majority of the time this functionality is inoperative when starting the PC. In some instances the functionality is randomly returned while using the PC and in a small number of cases (~20%) is available from startup. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. start the PC 2. 3. OBSERVED RESULT Double clicking a program icon does not start the program, it merely highlights the icon. It is as if the system accepts the first click but not the second click in the double click operation. EXPECTED RESULT That the program/script that the desktop quick launcher refers to is launched. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Kubuntu 21.04 KDE Plasma Version: 5.22.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.86.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 Kernel Version: 5.11.0-37-generic (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core Processor Memory: 15.5 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080/PCIe/SSE2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
If you disable double-click and go back to single-click in System Settings > Workspace Behavior, does single-clicking on the icons to launch them work on startup as you expect?
Changing system settings seems to have solved the problem based on limited testing at startup. There has not been enough time to see if this changes through normal use, ie clicking to open stops working.
