SUMMARY I have a Laptop with Windows 10 as it's main OS. Sometimes I use KDE neon as a live system for a USB stick for testing. When I boot KDE neon, restart and boot back into Windows 10 the system clock is changed. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Windows 10 as you main OS 2. Run KDE neon from a USB stick (and ?do nothing? -> see "ADDITIONAL INFORMATION") 3. Boot back into Windows 10 and see the clock changed OBSERVED RESULT The clock is changed by -2 hours. I guess this is because I live in a +2 hours timezone and KDE neon resets it to +0. It's easy to fix on Windows 10: Open the time settings and toggle the setting to automatically get the time off and back on. EXPECTED RESULT KDE neon should not change the settings - especially as live system from a USB stick SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: Windows 10 Home (Version 20H2; build 19042.1165) Linux/KDE Plasma: Will be checked the next time I use the live system (I used neon-user-20210902-0945) KDE Plasma Version: per above KDE Frameworks Version: per above Qt Version: per above ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Own Laptop: MSI Bravo 17 This *might* be related to KDE neon connecting to the internet. So when KDE neon is connected to the internet it changes the time setting, if it isn't it does not. I need to retest this though. I tested this bug on a company laptop and there it did not change the time. HOWEVER: That PC had a locked BIOS/UEFI and the Win 10 system was encrypted (So I would have been surprised very much if KDE neon managed to change the time setting over there) A though: Would KDE neon change the date as well on New Years Eve when I'm already in the next year, but +0 is not?
I just booted into Windows 10 after testing with a lice system using Zorin OS 16. I got the same result and my clock changed -2 hours. So maybe it's not only KDE neon.
I had some time to test the live system again. The time was correct until I connected the PC to the internet. At that point I got the -2 hours again. Then I changed the time zone to the one I'm in and the clock showed the correct time. After reboot I logged in into Windows 10 and I got the same changed clock again. Does the live system really set the BIOS/UEFI clock to GMT 0 even you have a different timezone? Again: IMHO a live system should never touch a setting unless specifically told so.

Today I noticed a problem that I noticed before: When you run the live system and it changes the clock, the Windows 10 clock will auto update, but this takes some time and will also only work if you connected to the internet. The problem I had: I thought the clock was accurate (on Windows 10) and trusted it (because I didn't kept this bug in mind). I was working on the PC and wondered why today I was doing the same things, yet had so much more time than usual. This was followed by a huge _Oh sh!t_ moment when I took a look at my phone's clock.
I re-tested this today and the problem still exists.
