I have stumbled upon [bashdb](http://bashdb.sourceforge.net/) which offers debugging capabilities for bash scripts. It has already been implemented as plugins for VSCode and JetBrains, and I am wondering if some basic functionality can be introduced in Kate as well.

Not sure if that is even still maintained. In any case our debugging plugin is now DAB compatible, if any Bash debugger features that, we can include it, extra support for this looks out of scope.
