Created attachment 141236 [details] screenshot of the error message SUMMARY Skanlite will scan fine, but when you go to save the scan, you always get "Failed to save image". STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open Skanlite 2. Do a preview scan & a full scan, or just a scan (I am using 600 dpi)- I've tried saving to JPG, PNG, and TIFF formats OBSERVED RESULT Skanlite pops up an error saying "Failed to save image" Then which you click OK, the progress bar never stops moving, and the program is not usable until you click Close EXPECTED RESULT Skanlite successfully saves the scan. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: KDE Neon 5.22.4 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.22.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.85.0 Qt Version: 5.15.3 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I'm using a Canon CanoScan LiDE 300, which works fine in Document Scanner, and fine in Skanlite up until the point at which the scan needs to be saved. When I run skanlite from a Konsole, this text shows up in the Konsole when I try to save the scan: kf.coreaddons: no metadata found in "/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins/kf5/kio/desktop.so" "Failed to extract plugin meta data from '/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins/kf5/kio/desktop.so'" kf.coreaddons: no metadata found in "/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins/kf5/kio/applications.so" "Failed to extract plugin meta data from '/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins/kf5/kio/applications.so'" kf.coreaddons: no metadata found in "/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins/kf5/kio/desktop.so" "Failed to extract plugin meta data from '/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins/kf5/kio/desktop.so'" kf.coreaddons: no metadata found in "/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins/kf5/kio/applications.so" "Failed to extract plugin meta data from '/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins/kf5/kio/applications.so'" kf.kio.filewidgets.kfilefiltercombo: "image/avif" is not a valid MIME type kf.kio.filewidgets.kfilefiltercombo: "" is not a valid MIME type kf.kio.filewidgets.kfilefiltercombo: "image/avif" is not a valid MIME type kf.kio.filewidgets.kfilefiltercombo: "" is not a valid MIME type
You have the "Preview before saving" option disabled, correct?
Looks like the update to Skanlite 21.08.1 fixed the issue for me. After the update, I could once again save scans. To answer your question: Yes, Preview before Save was turned off.
Then it is a duplicate of bug 440970, which indeed has already been fixed. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 440970 ***
