Why KDE needs such thing as buggy Juk, if there is far more superior alternative? Amarok is old well maintained player. Why waste human resources on joke software if you already have better product?
This is borderline trolling. Stop it.
Not trolling. I am serious. But if you do not discuss such things, I'll stop.
> Why waste human resources on joke software This is not the way a normal person communicates things if they want a productive discussion; it's the way trolls discuss things. If you think this kind of thing is normal, then you need to re-calibrate your definition of normal. I'm glad you don't self-identify as s troll. So now you need to stop communicating in the way trolls do.
It may sound harsh, but... KDE is best front-end for Linux core. This suite should include best applications available. And what do we have in repositories and official page? Let application mature, then add it to official site. Juk could be understood if it has at least cool concept as Elisa. Elisa is buggy, but it’s fresh simple cross-platform player in lineup. Promote best, hide worse. Who makes global decisions concerning apps?
Nobody. There is no central authority to make that kind of decision. We follow the philosophy that ultimately the best apps will bubble to the top. JuK is not abandoned, but it's lightly developed. Same with Amarok. But we can't just hide them entirely, because they're not abandoned. We could create a curated list of the best KDE apps, but of course what constitutes the best? My opinion? Yours? A vote of the KDE e.V. membership? KDE is a big important organization, I agree. Our size, scope, and reach means that we need to carefully consider everything before we do something like this. Regardless, the bug tracker is an inappropriate place to have this discussion as it isn't about a bug in JuK. If you wish to pursue this topic further, an email to the kde-community@kde.org mailing list might be amore appropriate place.
Juk looks and feels like abandoned. Amarok is definitely good and stable. I do not have any problems with it. Lacks some things, but it could be improved. Amarok can be promoted, not hidden. What is best? There are “industry standards” such as MS Office, Adobe Photoshop... Such “standards” are needed for Linux. I don’t know all Linux apps, but popular and good are Blender, Krita, Krusader, Okular, Gwenview, qbittorrent, Gimp etc… Good application is usable non-crashy software with cosy UI and well-though functionality. At least native KDE apps should be top-notch. Other good apps can be included in featured list. And the rest in development list. Let people try. Repositories should not contain glitchy software. Software on Linux is great problem for newbies.
