SUMMARY Moving grouped files to a different album changes some file extension to lowercase => tagging etc. is lost STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Group two files, e.g. DSCF6579.JPG + DSCF6579.RAF 2. Tag the group 3. Move the group by dragging it to a different album OBSERVED RESULT a) OK: Both files are moved on filesystem b) BUG: Files are partially "renamed" on filesystem: DSCF6579.JPG (ok) DSCF6579.raf (bug: extension is now lowercase) c) Renamed file recognised by digicam as new file => Tags etc. are lost And file is renamed/touched which is at least ugly. EXPECTED RESULT Do not rename files or change them to lowercase. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS macOS: macOS 11.5, official bundle digiKam-7.3.0-MacOS-x86-64 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Did not happen with official bundle digiKam-7.2.0-rc-MacOS-x86-64. Stepped back to this version, because with this bug 7.3 is unusable for me.
Can you reproduce this problem with the Copy and PAste function from contect menu between albums ? Can you provide the debug trace from a Terminal following instructions here : https://www.digikam.org/contribute/ Thanks in advance Gilles Caulier
The problem is not reproducible with Linux or Windows. I am sure that nowhere in digiKam do we change the file extension to lowercase letters during this file move process. However, there are a lot of bug reports about Drag & Drop it Qt-5.15 to MacOS. The problem should be solved with Qt-5.15.2. The problems do not exist in Qt-5.11. Maik
Hi Harald and happy new year, Can you reproduce the dysfunction using current digiKam 7.5.0 pre-release MacOS package available here : https://files.kde.org/digikam/ Thanks in advance Gilles Caulier
@Harald digiKam 8.0.0 is out. Problem still reproducible ? Best regards Gilles Caulier
@Harald, The problem must be fixed in 8.0.0 release. Please give us a fresh feedback please Gilles Caulier

@Harald, digiKam 8.3.0 stable version is released and available at usual place : https://www.digikam.org/download/ Can you reproduce the dysfunction on your computer ? Thanks in advance Gilles Caulier
@Harald Please try the new 8.5.0 pre-release PKG installer for MacOS Silicon (arm64) available here: https://files.kde.org/digikam/ Thanks in advance Gilles Caulier
I'm unable to reproduce the issue with 8.5.0 pre-release on MacOS Sonoma 14.6.1. @Harald, are you able to reproduce the issue with the new pre-release version?
It is actually practically impossible for the file extension to change to lowercase when moving, at least at the moment I have no idea. With tags and grouped images, it depends on the grouping settings whether metadata is only applied to the leader image or to all items in the group. So this is probably not a bug. Maik
