Can you attach a screenshot of the error you get?

When you press "Open", it's most likely not Ark's fault anymore but another program that is failing to open the file.
Comment 2 Christopher Yeleighton 2021-08-25 23:17:08 UTC
1. I do not press [Open!], I press the file itself, which is like pressing [Preview!].
2. There is no external program, it is Ark’s preview window.
3. It does not fail to open the file, it fails to display the image, replacing it with a broken image icon.
Comment 3 Albert Astals Cid 2021-08-26 19:52:01 UTC
I would still like a screenshot, because previews are not provided by ark either.

That's not as useful as i was expecting ^_^

Can you make ark get to the same situation (i.e. showing the "broken image") and then in a terminal run

cat /proc/`pidof ark`/maps &> ark_maps

and attach the ark_maps file here?
