I haven't had this problem a few days ago, and I haven't changed any settings. I stopped installing updates because my system was running fine and I feared updating would screw something up. Ultimately I caved in, and 2 days ago I installed the latest updates. My fears were founded. Since then, about once a day, when I close an application (e.g. Firefox or WebStorm), a ghost window is left on the screen as described in these posts: - https://forum.garudalinux.org/t/closing-windows-leaves-them-after-animation-as-a-part-of-the-background/9470 - https://www.reddit.com/r/kde/comments/ow1g01/possible_kwin_plasma_bug_image_ghosting_after/ It's impossible to clear it (major security issue if sensitive information was displayed) or interact with it, and after following the advice in the first post to set the Compositor latency to "Force smoother animations", my system slowed to a crawl per bug #433166 SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: KDE Neon 5.22.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.85.0 Qt Version: 5.15.3 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I have an external display connected to my laptop via USB-C. Both are 4k. No GPU, just a ThinkPad X1C with Mesa Intel UHD Graphics 620.

Hello, I am running Fedora 35 with X11, KDE Plasma 5.25.4, KDE Frameworks 5.96.0 and Qt 5.15.2. I have the same issues while having Translucency turned on, is there a fix for this?
No, how can you reproduce the bug?
(In reply to Vlad Zahorodnii from comment #3) > No, how can you reproduce the bug? Just by having Translucency turned on and focusing another window while closing the other one I guess. It happened to me as I had a popup window that asked me if I want to exit a program, I clicked yes and the window stayed there as "ghost window". As I disabled Translucency the ghost window disappeared. This often happens to me maybe sometimes under other conditions, so I am not sure if this is the only reproduction.
> that asked me if I want to exit a program, I clicked yes and the window stayed there as "ghost window" Tried a couple of times, can't reproduce. Can you share your ~/.config/kwinrc file?
