Why don’t we have Minimize All Windows default shortcut in System Settings => Shortcuts? The only place for changing/assigning it - bottom right corner of the screen. It’s not user-friendly at all. Please, make default global shortcut for Minimize All Windows so interested user could change it in System Settings => Shortcuts. I assigned Meta + Ctrl + D. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Kubuntu 21.04 KDE Plasma Version: 5.21.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.80.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 Kernel Version: 5.11.0-31-generic OS Type: 64-bit Graphics Platform: X11
There is a global action called "MinimizeAll" in the Shortcuts page. You can assign whatever shortcut you want. Not that the "Show Desktop" effect has a default shortcut of Meta+D, and it also shows the desktop, just in another way. Given that there is already a default shortcut for a different means of showing the desktop, and that you can assign whatever shortcut you want to the "Minimize All" effect, I don't think anything needs to be done here.
Meta + D – just shows desktop. It’s huge difference. Minimize All exactly minimizes all windows. I don’t get why such simple thing could not be done. Just add default global shortcut, for example Meta + Ctrl + D.
Please don't re-open bugs that are marked RESOLVED INTENTIONAL if you disagree with the reasoning. You can already assign the shortcut yourself if you prefer minimization to the "Show Desktop" effect. Since you've done that, you personally have managed to satisfy yourself. Asking for your customization to be made the default amounts to claiming that it would be better for everyone, and I don't see how it would be, given that there is already an alternative global-shortbut-based means of accomplishing the same goal (show the desktop).
Minimizing All Windows is not showing desktop. It’s much more useful function than just Show Desktop =)
Than I'm glad you found how how to set a global shortcut for it! :)
