Created attachment 140873 [details] screengrab showing previously removed widgets reappearing SUMMARY Any widget removed last session reappears on shutdown and reboot STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Set desktop appearance to desktop 2. Log in to kwin session 3. Add widgets, then remove some widgets 4. shut down and reboot OBSERVED RESULT Widgets removed in step 2 reappear after reboot. this affects both widgets on the desktop and on the panels. EXPECTED RESULT Widgets removed in step 2 would not reappear after reboot SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux: Debian 11 KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.5-4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.78.0-3 Qt Version: 5.15.2+dfsg-9 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION a similar bug (179023) occurred in plasma 4 with folder layout
Ah sorry, I mean widgets removed in step 3 not step 2
Are you using a multi-screen setup?
No, it is a laptop, one screen. Also found out that switching desktop appearance makes removed widgets from the desktop behave as expected, but not on the panels.
correction, switching the desktop view just 'resets' the removed widgets. if the steps to reproduce are repeated, removed widgets reappear again.
When you remove a widget, Plasma shows you a "undo removing that widget" notification. Is it possible that this notification was visible on the screen when you rebooted?
