Keyboard shortcut alternative for copy action conflicts with keyboard shortcut for new action

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

Fixed. See bug #411272

Why are you re-opening a bug marked as a duplicated without even providing any details why? This does not make sense. Please re-open bug #411272 and provide details why this is not working for you in 5.1.3
Comment 3 Jeff 2022-08-21 19:21:09 UTC
I submitted a bug report and received notice that the bug was fixed. The bug is nonetheless present in current version of KMyMoney that I am using. Is there a version that is available to me that does not have this bug? Every time I use KMM I must disable the alternate keyboard shortcut for Ctrl-+ so that the default shortcut is active. -- Jeff

The bug you reopened was closed as a duplicate, not closed as fixed. What Thomas asked was that you reopen the bug closed as fixed. In addition, please don't just say "current version" as this depends on lots of factors, and is not obvious to anyone. Please state the exact version, as well as which distribution/OS you are using. These matter, as it is the distribution which compiles what they release, and compile time options can affect how things work (although that is not a likely cause of your current problem.)

Thanks. I tried editing the keybindings text file on disk but it only
shows the default bindings, not the alternative ones. I tried
re-assigning the "new transaction" shortcut to Alt+Ins rather than
Ctrl+Ins but KMM would not recognize the change (it performed no
action at all).

I'm using KMM 5.2.1 from April of this year
Operating System: Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS
Kernel: Linux 5.15.0-46-generic
Architecture: x86-64
Desktop: Dell OptiPlex XE2

I assume that "5.2.1" should read "5.1.2" but more important is the date: Since bug #411272 was fixed on 16 July 2022 at 15:30 UTC and clearly states FIXED IN 5.1.3 how could it possibly be fixed for you on your machine? You need to update the package. We informed distros that a new version of the source code is available via email and it depends on their policy to update/upgrade or not.

As a workaround we provide an AppImage version that you can download and run. Please visit https://kmymoney.org/appimage to learn more about it. In case you have questions, please consult https://kmymoney.org/support.html to learn about forum, mailing list, etc. where you can get additional help.

With that said I close this one again as duplicate to maintain the stats. Thanks for reporting the problem initially.

Thank you for your help.

I downloaded, used chmod to make executable, and executed
kmymoney-5.1-179-linux-64-gcc.AppImage. I opened the executable (which
is labeled as Version 5.1.2-b063f6349) and found that it still shows
Ctrl+Ins as an alternative keyboard shortcut. When I opened an
account, I found that the Ctrl+Ins shortcut no longer produces any
action (I do not get a warning that there are two instances of
Ctrl+Ins as I formerly did). I checked the shortcut config file at
~.local/share/kmymoney/Default shows this: <Action shortcut="Ctrl+Ins"
name="transaction_new"/>.

To make sure kmymoney-5.1-179 was not using old config files, I
installed it on a computer that did not have any version of KMyMoney
on it and opened my .kmy file using 5.1-179. Unfortunately, I found
that the Ctrl+Ins shortcut was still duplicated, once as an
alternative for "copy" and once for new transaction. Also, I found
that the Ctrl+Ins command no longer did anything.

Is there a problem in my .kmy file that is producing this problem?

Comment 8 Thomas Baumgart 2022-08-22 19:10:38 UTC
Yes, we did not change the Ctrl+Ins default but you are now able to replace it with whatever you want which was not possible before this fix. Did you try that? The AppImage version you have includes the fix.

p.s. In case you answer by email to a mail from bugs.kde.org, please make sure to remove the original text from your response. Otherwise, it will be contained over and over in the bug entry which makes it hard to follow. See your entry on https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=441190#c7 for example. Thank you.
