You select the folder with the images, the digiKam Import tool then opens, here you can select individual images to be imported. This is the intended way via the import tool. This should work in macOS as well.

Any feedback? Can you now import single images?

Hi Maik!
It is still not working.
The underlying problem is that digikam does not recognize the SD Card.
I see the card in the finder, but not in digikam.
So I tried to copy the directory from the SD card to my external HD where digikam is installed.
But if I try to import it from there, I can select the directory and select import an image. But it does not show up in the target folder.
Ok, I think I give up on this and use something else.
Thks for your reply.

Activate the native file dialog in digiKam Settings and Miscellaneous.

native file dialog has beeen set.
To check or uncheck and restart does not make any difference

Roland,

With digiKam 7.5.0 pre-release, under my macbook pro running with BigSur, i cannot reproduce your problem.

Both Import/Add Folders, or Import/Add Images can show the native file dialog when option is enabled in Setup/Misc section. As you can see on my screenshot, i go to the KINGSTON removable device (usb key). It work also for a SDCARD for ex.

digiKam 7.5.0 pre-release is available here :

I close this file now
