SUMMARY
Two bugs have been marked as duplicates of each other. 391796 is listed as a duplicate of 389789, and 389789 has been marked as a duplicate of 391796. Either I am missing a third bug report, or this recursive duplicate has effectively caused the issue to be ignored.

I am still having this problem on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS using Krita 4.4.5. When I add text, I am able to mark a region where I want the text to go (this is consistent with other programs). I then enter my text into the dialog box and click save/close. At this point I see a text box, but the text is tiny, does not autowrap, and the eight sizing handles do not work. What is the status of improving this experience?

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Krita
2. Create a text object.
3. After saving and closing, try to read the text and to resize it.

Note: I have tested this on paint and vector layers only.

Those two bugs are not marked as 'recursive' duplicates. One is Resolved - Duplicate of the other. The other is Confirmed and noted as having the first as its duplicate.

The reason the text is 'tiny' is that you had a small font size set in the Tool Options docker when you created it. The font size can be changed when editing text with the text editor.
When text is selected, press the Return key to open the text editor window.

You can't resize text by dragging its vector content bounding box because it wouldn't be text if you could do that. It would be a vector shape.

Regarding lack of autowrap, this is raised in 391796.
