The touchpad is no longer recognised. I guess this is probably a kernel problem in ubuntu rather than a KDE specific problem. I first noticed it because the mouse acceleration appeared different. I them went into KDE system settings, then under the hardware section selected 'input devices' then touchpad. A message appears that says no touchpad found. (This is a Medion X7815 laptop that has a touchpad). There is no mouse attached. xorg appears to default to a generic wheel mouse. So the touch pad basically works but with the inability to adjust any settings. As I mentioned, this used to work in 18.04. Any help with what I should try next would be appreciated. Thanks. Looks like it might be a kernel issue that appeared in 5.4.0-47 according to this https://askubuntu.com/questions/1235067/touchpad-stopped-working-20-04 Bit surprised it's not working in our current KDE Neon version of the kernel 5.11.0-25 which makes me thing there is more to it.
*** FIXED *** Just for reference, I fixed this by simply typing: sudo depmod -a then rebooting. KDE settings now find the touchpad and the touchpad is now working as before, prior to the 20.04 upgrade.
Reopened as after the upgrade to plasma 5.22.4 the KDE settings cannot find the touchpad again. As before I ran sudo depmod -a then rebooted. KDE settings now find the touchpad and the touchpad is now working as before. So it appears that a KDE upgrade may break the operation of the touchpad which can then be fixed (until the next upgrade?) by running sudo depmod -a and rebooting.
