SUMMARY If "remember window size" is unchecked in Konsole's settings (e.g. to set a custom terminal size in a profile), the main toolbar and session toolbar will always be visible, even if they've ben hidden previously by right-clicking the menu bar and removing them. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Turn off "remember window size" in konsole settings 2. Remove the main toolbar and session toolbar by right-clicking the menubar 3. Close konsole and open another one OBSERVED RESULT The main toolbar and session toolbar will return EXPECTED RESULT The main toolbar and session toolbar should stay hidden SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.22.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.84.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION There's an additional usability problem here, which is that hiding the main toolbar and session toolbar is extremely difficult - right-clicking on the menu is not discoverable at all, especially if it's hidden. It should probably be in the "View" menu, or perhaps another checkbox in "Settings" alongside the checkbox for the menubar.

(In reply to Paul Worrall from comment #1) > > *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 430036 *** It is not. With konsole 21.08.0-1 the main toolbar is always visible and always in mode “Text alongside Icons”. Turning toolbar off, changing mode - all gone after exit and new start. Just for curiosity: Is there any form of testing done before konsole is released?
It's most likely bug 430036, if you test with the latest commits in the release/21.08 branch and you still see the issue described in this report, feel free to reopen. FWIW, and email was sent to the distributions KDE mailing list notifying distro packagers of those commits. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 430036 ***

Bye.
