It would be nice for Kate to show the current git branch in use so the user might not accidentally push a change to the wrong branch.

The current branch is shown above the projects tree view atm.

As mentioned, the current branch is visible on top of the "Projects" side bar. If the FR is about something else, feel free to reopen but closing for now.
