This build of the program is very unstable. Working in Reports and then switching to another section such as Home or Budgets will cause the program to crash and sometimes saving the data file with 0 bytes destroying all data!
After using the program for over 5 years I have stopped using it.
Comment 2 Jack 2021-08-07 23:39:39 UTC
You have given up using a program because you have run into one unstable version? Or is there more history here?
I'm curious why you are using the AppImage instead of the Kubuntu packaged version.
Have you tried any other appimage version? The appimage versions are daily builds and do sometimes have problems. If you're using the latest, try the previous day.
Comment 3 Jack 2021-08-10 21:53:20 UTC
Does this happen in a different appimage version?

The appimage version I'm using is the binary that the web page https://kmymoney.org/download.html (https://link.getmailspring.com/link/8A47DC11-CAD1-4293-AB34-308C62A74FC5@getmailspring.com/0?redirect=https%3A%2F%2Fkmymoney.org%2Fdownload.html&recipient=YnVnLWNvbnRyb2xAa2RlLm9yZw%3D%3D) links to for a Linux download of KMyMoney. The AppImage page is titled "KMyMoney_Stable_Appimage_Build (https://link.getmailspring.com/link/8A47DC11-CAD1-4293-AB34-308C62A74FC5@getmailspring.com/1?redirect=https%3A%2F%2Fbinary-factory.kde.org%2Fjob%2FKMyMoney_Stable_Appimage_Build%2F&recipient=YnVnLWNvbnRyb2xAa2RlLm9yZw%3D%3D)". It is not called a beta, test, or developer's build. I assumed it was a stable, release version. This is the second version from this page that I have downloaded and used. I went here because I experienced issues printing reports on the Kubuntu package.

I went back and tried the version KMyMoney-5.1.0-4763930-x86_64.appimage and it too crashes when you scroll on the Home page.
I have gone back to version 5.0.8 from the Kubuntu package.

I tried to duplicate your problem with an appimage and it does not crash for me nor does the computer freeze no matter how much I scroll up and down on the home page. I tried different files (smaller and larger). So I think this is something special either on your system or with your data or your settings or maybe just a combination of the above. A few questions:

- Do you use X-server or Wayland?
- Do you use the file backend or SQL database backend?
- What widgets do you have activated on the home page (see settings)?
- Which is the order of them?
- What gets printed to the console (start the appimage from a console window for that)?

BTW: AppImage and printing has its own problems. See bug 419898
