SUMMARY
Kate tabs is missing the close icon.

OBSERVED RESULT

KDE Frameworks Version: 5.68.0
Qt Version: 5.12.8

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The close function does work, when you click the right location.
Also the hint text is shown if you hover over the right location.
Other KDE application tabs correctly shows the close icon

Works for me properly with more-up-to-date versions, like e.g. 21.04.

Sorry that there is that issue in your version, since that time the tabbing was redone.
