SUMMARY When upgrading the Linux kernel with Apper it is stuck at 98 % installing. When closing Apper there is running-icon (blue circle) in the tray bar. It shows "Updating packages" and no progress. When opening Apper again and searching for anything (e.g. the name of a package) it just loads but doesn't show any results – when closing Apper again it iterates the number in the circle in the tray-bar and beneath the "Updating packages" progress bar without progress there is a (or multiple) "Searching by package name" with the blue progress-indicator moving from left-to-right-and-back. The kernel *seems* to be upgraded just fine but a restart is needed. It would be best if no restart was needed for this but if a restart is needed Apper should not get frozen and e.g. display a correct message-box. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Use Debian10 stable/KDE 2. Upgrade the kernel by pressing Upgrade in Apper 3. Wait until installation proceeded and freezes OBSERVED RESULT It gets stuck at 98 % (maybe sometimes 99 % or so) with Apper not being usable thereafter. EXPECTED RESULT It should finish installation and maybe display a message like "restart needed to apply kernel upgrades" SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Debian10 stable KDE Plasma Version: 5.14.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.54.0 Qt Version: 5.11.3 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
