Description david 2021-07-22 01:24:16 UTC
I lost my left hand in a traumatic accident. Typing on my phone with swipe to type is great, but I don't have that option on my PC. There is an option on my phone KDE Connect app under plugin settings that says, "Remote Input, use your phone or tablet as a touchpad and keyboard". This sounds like I might be able to use the swipe to type feature on my phone as a keyboard input on my PC. However, it doesn't seem to work. My phone is a Samsung S21 Ultra running Android v.11 and the Gboard keyboard app and the KDE connect app v.1.17. My PC is running Ubuntu (PopOS) v.20.04. If this could be enabled, it could help a lot of people challenged by typing on a traditional keyboard. Thank you!

I hope you will find the new "compose send" feature useful. It is contributed by Forrest Hilton.

Make sure that you are using the latest version of KDE Connect Android (1.19.1). Click remote input and find the icon with a pencil. It will bring you to the "compose send" page, where you can use swipe / gesture typing (and also voice typing) to input text. When ready, click the icon to send the text buffer to PC.
