SUMMARY In 2. below I downloaded the Windows Daily Build #827. When I start Kdenlive I get a popup asking where my MLT profiles were. In the path box was "/usr/local/share/mlt-7/profiles" (Since I'm on Windows this looked like a Linux file format). I put in a Windows path. Kdenlive loaded. So I shutdown and started Windows. I opened Kdenlive and a popup told me that Kdenlive crashed on last startup and asked if I wanted to reset the configuration files. It wouldn't accept Yes and when I said No another pop-up said it cannot find the melt program required for rendering (part of MLT). I copy-and-pasted the path to the Lib/MLT folders. A third pop-up appeared, the one asking where my MLT profiles were. I put in the path as before. The problem I am having sadly is that these popup box answers are not saving and I am having to provide the paths everytime I start the application or the operating system and I am not 100% sure if my paths are the right ones. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Uninstall Kdenlive 2. Install the build #827: https://binary-factory.kde.org/job/Kdenlive_Nightly_mingw64/lastSuccessfulBuild/artifact/kdenlive-master-827-windows-mingw_64-gcc.exe OBSERVED RESULT See SUMMARY EXPECTED RESULT See SUMMARY SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: 10
Hello, Thanks Stephen for testing. Yes the 1st trials with MLT7 need a bit of polishing; I'm aware of it but don't have time to fix it right now. Hopefully soon ;)

Hopefully soon ;) Hi Vincent Thanks. I've gone back to 21.04.3 for the time being. And when I did I noticed all my settings had gone: keyboard shortcuts, project settings, etc.
Could you test again with latest nigthly build? If Kdenlive ask for melt.exe click on the folder icon and point to the folder where Kdenlive.exe is stored. The path setting should look like: https://userbase.kde.org/Kdenlive/Manual/Settings_Menu/Configure_Kdenlive#MLT_Environment

The path setting should look like: > https://userbase.kde.org/Kdenlive/Manual/Settings_Menu/ > Configure_Kdenlive#MLT_Environment Sorry no luck. I downloaded and installed build #833. It keeps prompting for MLT profiles (/usr/local/share/mlt-7/profiles) - and not Melt.exe. Any reason why it keeps looking for "/usr/local/share/mlt-7/profiles" instead of "C:\Users\steph\AppData\Local\kdenlive\share\mlt\profiles"? :-)

As I had v21.04.3 installed I installed #834 as Kdenlive834 to prevent over-writing and Kdenlive opened without incident. Then I uninstalled both versions and re-installed #834 but it prompted me for the MLT profiles, as before, when I opened it.
In the meantime we solved the MLT issue. Could you check with the nightly build again?

Just tried the latest build* and it looks like the issue is fixed; I opened my last project and watched it all at x10 speed. Well done and thank you. *https://binary-factory.kde.org/job/Kdenlive_Nightly_mingw64/lastSuccessfulBuild/artifact/kdenlive-master-843-windows-mingw_64-gcc.exe
Thank you for the feedback. Glad to hear it works. This fix is part of version 21.08. I close this bug. If it still appears in the latest version, please feel free to re-open it and update the affected version number.
