SUMMARY STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Grab a high-res wallpaper (mine is from https://github.com/kitsunebishi/Wallpapers/blob/main/images/00040.png if needed, I also tested other wallpapers from that same repo with the same results). 2. Click on configure desktop, then add and select your wallpaper. 3. Apply said wallpaper. OBSERVED RESULT Had to wait for a few seconds, then wallpaper turned a solid black. EXPECTED RESULT It should just apply the wallpaper. Works for me with Plasma 5.22. 5.18 is getting a bit long in the tooth at this point, despite being an LTS version. I would be interested in knowing if it still happens in a later Plasma version, if you're able to upgrade. There have been a few fixes to wallpaper selection and positioning since 5.18 was released.
