KDE Plasma Version: 5.22.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.83.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2
Kernel Version: 5.12.14 (64-bit)

SUMMARY
Under a Plasma Wayland Session, Task Manager does not show some apps. Currently I was able to observe this with claws-mail (GTK email app).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open a Plasma Wayland session.
2. Open claws-mail
3.

OBSERVED RESULT
There's no claws-mail application shown in the task manager plasmoid (I'm using is as part of my status bar)

EXPECTED RESULT
Task Manager should show the application as running.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Shown above.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Task Manager behaves as expected under an X11 session. This artifact shows only under Wayland.

Just upgraded Plasma to 5.22.3. The bug is still present for me.
Comment 2 David Redondo 2021-07-08 11:23:30 UTC
Cannot reproduce
however I noticed that it seems to always start as X client
Comment 3 David Edmundson 2021-07-08 11:42:38 UTC

stdin/stdout result of WAYLAND_DEBUG=1 plasmashell --replace as requested by David.
Comment 5 David Edmundson 2021-07-08 20:36:50 UTC
Thanks. That shows kwin is sending only:
 - dolphin
 - yakuake
 - plasmashell

This means it's not the task manager at fault, but something earlier in the stack

Can you run qdbus org.kde.KWin /KWin queryWindowInfo and click on the claws-mail

and send me output please.

On July 10th Claws-Mail released their port to GTK3, Claws-Mail 4.0.0. This version shows normal taskbar behavior on Wayland.

I suspect Claws-Mail 3.18 (released simultaneously) is still affected by this bug. So, seems like the bug is somehow related to the use of GTK2 as a graphical toolkit.
