Description oliviervasseur51 2021-07-07 13:09:25 UTC
SUMMARY
The pop-up window that displays the patience timer when a break starts does not display in a proper way. Instead of displaying the pop-up window, the area of screen at the place is was supposed to display is "frozen": for example on a terminal, this area appears as it was before the break (some flickering may be visible).
This is not systematic: sometimes the pop-up window displays well, and it is not sure what creates this.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Normal usage of rsibreak.
2.
3.

OBSERVED RESULT
Pop-up window not displaying but altering the screen area.

EXPECTED RESULT
Pop-up window displayed.

Does this always happen or just sometimes?

Could you take a photo and upload it here? I don't think I understand what you're describing.

Hi Albert,

Thanks for your answer.
You can find the photos in attachment: there is a rectangle area at the
bottom of the screen which froze was was there when it appeared (you see
that the rectangle doesn’t change when I scroll). Instead there should be
the usual rsibreak popup on that place.

Best regards.

Hi again,

To supplement my previous email, I have noticed that setting rsibreak to
"Take activity into account" and restarting rsibreak removes the issue. The
issue still appears when rsibreak is in the "Break at fixed times" mode.
There might be a bug with the popup window in that mode.

Best regards.

Interesting, can you please fill the information about the desktop environment, etc that you use? Is it Plasma? Soemthing else? Wayland or X11?
Comment 9 oliviervasseur51 2021-07-14 09:24:34 UTC
I am using Xubuntu, so the desktop environment is Xfce.
I am running the X display server and my display manager is lightdm.

I just installed XUbuntu in a virtual machine and it worked fine https://imgur.com/a/B2JTwz8

I don't really know what else i can do to try to reproduce your issue.

Hi Albert,

Thank you for trying it out.
Actually the issue is not systematic: sometimes for some reason the display
is correct, sometimes not.
Usually this change happens during the same session: after running for some
time since startup, suddenly it displays in a wrong way.

Another bug I noticed is that the "lock screen" button on the popup windows
(when the popup window appears correctly) does not work. It just behaves as
the "ignore" button.

Kind regards,
Olivier
